"Oliver" Performance To Benefit Dottie's House
BRICK - On August 16, The Spring Lake Community House Theatre will hold a performance of "Oliver" to benefit Dottie's House, which provides long-term transitional housing and supportive services for women and children who have survived domestic violence.
"Oliver" is a heart-warming British musical with music and lyrics by Lionel Bart. Based on the Charles Dickens classic, "Oliver Twist," it tells the story of the trials and tribulations of an orphan boy on the streets of Pre-Industrial Revolution London.
Tickets are $45, and the evening will begin with a reception of cold hors d'oeuvres, wine and cheese at 6:30 p.m. followed by an 8 p.m. performance and an intermission dessert buffet. Anyone interested in attending or sponsoring the evening should contact Dottie's House at 732-295-7380 for more information and available seats.
Dottie's House opened a new wing in March 2007, which added nine new apartments and more than doubled previous capacity. Dottie's House is now able to house and provide services for 17 families for up to two years. This unique opportunity provides its residents with the tools needed to break the chain of family violence and become emotionally and financially independent. Dottie's House is the only long-term, second stage, transitional housing program with supportive services under one roof in New Jersey.
