Ocean County Artists' Guild Announces News
OCEAN COUNTY - In June, the Ocean County Artists' Guild in Island Heights will be showing the work of Jean M. Le Baron, a Beachwood resident, who is a representational artist working in diverse media with strength in oils and acrylics on canvas.
Beginning at age 3, with a larger-than-life bunny drawn on her bedroom wall, the artist emerged, self-taught through the early years and refined as she grew. Her artistic ability deepened through the emotional and physical turmoil created by numerous major surgeries on her right arm and shoulder, causing permanent impairment. The emotions expressed in those years filled a well to be drawn from and reflects in the moods expressed. Art pulled her through the pain and despair, forging a strength within her that could be bent but never broken.
Jean Le Baron is a charter member of TRACx81, an artist's co-op in Toms River, and a member of the Ocean County Artists' Guild. Her paintings have been accepted in numerous juried exhibits, and she has held several solo shows.
She says, "I like to paint subjects that are not perfect; flowers just past their prime, landscapes and seascapes with a touch of wildness, ordinary, daily life that hasn't been dressed up for company. My favorite medium is oils. I paint in many layers, glazing in color and value, and oils give the luminosity and depth that I love. I don't like to be tied to one subject; there is beauty in everything if you take the time to see it, even the imperfections are beautiful."
Jean's current solo show is entitled "Still Lifes Run Deep" and is located in Gallery 2. This is open to the public and free of charge. The guild is on Ocean and Chestnut avenues in Island Heights. Please call 732-270-3111 for directions, Tuesday through Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m., or visit their Web site at ocartistsguild.org.
