Ocean County Superior Court Seeks Juvenile Conference Committee Volunteers

OCEAN COUNTY - The Ocean County Superior Court is seeking volunteers to join the Juvenile Conference Committee (JCC) for its Manahawkin, Barnegat, Berkeley, Toms River, Lacey and Little Egg Harbor committees.

JCC members are citizens appointed by the court to conduct confidential, informal hearings regarding complaints against juveniles who are accused of committing minor acts of delinquency such as criminal mischief, trespassing, shoplifting, simple assault and disorderly person's offenses. The JCC makes recommendations to the presiding Family Court judge, which may include counseling, restitution, community work, a letter of apology or other sanctions/conditions that will help the juvenile become a responsible person.

JCC members meet once a month between 3 and 7 p.m. at standard locations.

Members of the community interested in joining the committee or looking for additional information should call Sonal Pushko, volunteer coordinator, at 732-288-7231.
