My Mother Is A Great Councilwoman

In response to Cory Leviton's (letter to the editor) posted May 2 against Councilwoman Emily Ingram, I would like to say that the entirety of the article was a lie based on preconceived thoughts due to a crush gone bad. As daughter of Emily Ingram, I know some readers may think that I have a slanted opinion on the topics presented in Cory's (letter); however, I only intend to tell the truth and give credit where credit is due.

In regards to the ribbon cutting ceremony at Pineland Karate School, I know for a fact that my mother attended the event for the duration that she possibly could because of prior family obligations. Councilwoman Emily Ingram did not solely appear for pictures and leave the event. I only know this fact because I was in attendance as well. My mother and I showed up as the festivities were getting started, the ribbon cutting took place and my mother and I went inside to watch a good portion of the demonstrations.

In addition, my mother is an active parent in both FBLA and the Jackson Jaguar Marching Band. My mother does a lot for every activity that I and my brother are involved in, as does my father. Both parents have attended both filmfestivals, all of the band concerts, a great deal of band competitions, all the high school musicals I have been a part of and so much more. My father has provided all the technical and electrical equipment for the filmfestivals, both parents contributed both time and money in helping my brother pursue his dream of running for New Jersey FBLA Membership Vice President and my mother has personally put time aside in aiding both Memorial and Liberty's marching bands in obtaining their non-for-profit status. It is true that my mother does not go to all the band parent meetings, but only because town meetings are held on the same dates and the same times. So now I propose to you, Cory, how is my mother supposed to be in two places at once? What is more important to you, her involvement as a band parent or your interest and concerns about the betterment of town?

I am aware that many members of Jackson Township are not satisfied with the decisions that have been made by the leaders of this town, however, I know for a fact that my mother is not to blame. I live in the same household as this great and intelligent woman, and I know what she is faced with and the decisions she must make. I know she truly does care about the future of this town. She cannot make everyone happy; it is impossible.

One main issue is taxes, and so many people complain about wanting their taxes lowered, and when the council attempts to do so by cutting parts of the budget, people continue to complain. Therefore, either way, the members of Jackson are never satisfied. And people like Cory do not understand what is really going on. My mother is passionate about what she does and intends on making Jackson a better place to live.

Although I am the daughter of Emily Ingram, I know what her intentions are and I know for a fact that she truly does care about the future of Jackson. Emily Ingram is a wonderful person and mother and a perfect candidate for re-election of councilwoman.
Susette Ingram,
Jackson
