Republican Supports Kafton Team

On May 13, I encourage Jackson residents to vote out the current majority of the Town Council, and elect Michael Kafton, Michael Reina and Bobbie Rivere. I don't like writing letters to the editor, but after receiving a glossy mailer from the Republican candidates trying to link the above three to Corzine and then an e-mail from a sitting member of the Town Council asking for my support in campaigning for the Republican team at the rate of $100 per day, I could not sit idle.

That flyer, along with their other propaganda, is carefully crafted to mislead the public with distorted facts and falsehoods. I am simply stunned at the money that they have pumped into this campaign, as evidenced by the multiple mailings of professional flyers as well as the petition to a vast majority of Republicans, to be compensated for campaigning.

I am a registered Republican, and I support fiscal accountability. The current Republican administration raised our taxes a whopping 32 percent, which was not justified or warranted. Let us not forget this fact. They are clever to substitute two new candidates on this ticket in the hopes of retaining at least one seat on the council, therefore, maintaining their control. Mike Kafton, the lone Democrat on the Kafton, Reina and Rivera ticket, kept taxes stable during his terms in office.Mike Reina provided responsible leadership during his tenure on the planning board and implemented as much fiscal control as was allowable by the law.

Let's not be misled by the crafty twists of facts and language used by the Republican team. Vote for Kafton, Reina and Rivere, and hopefully they will be able to provide some tax relief, which is desperately needed here in Jackson.
Kathy Mallette,
Jackson
