Library Helps The Homebound

JACKSON - If you can't come out to the library, the library will come to you. The rich collection of the Ocean County Library can be borrowed and home delivered free of charge through the Library's Home Borrowers Service. The service is available to county residents who are permanently or temporarily disabled or lack transportation. A medical note is not required. There are currently friendly volunteers throughout the area trained and ready to bring library materials to their homebound neighbors.

To enroll, the homebound patron simply calls their local branch or the Homebound and Volunteer Services Department. The staff will make note of the patron's reading preferences including formats such as large or regular print, audio books or music CDs, favorite authors and genres. The library then matches the customer with a trained volunteer who will set up a mutually convenient time to deliver and pick up the library items. To sign up for the free homebound delivery service, contact the branch at 732-928-4400 or call the Home Borrowers Service officeat 732-349-6200 extension 5530.
