HOWARD SWINGS INTO LAKEWOOD LAKEWOOD - Ryan Howard played his way through Lakewood just like any other aspiring minor leaguer in the Philadelphia Phillies organization. Unlike most minor leaguers, though, Howard not only reached the majors, he became an instant superstar when he won the Rookie of the Year award in 2005, and in 2006 slammed 58 home runs on his way to a Most Valuable Player Award. He is now a star - but his days in Lakewood were not quite over. Last week, Howard returned to Lakewood for two games during a brief injury rehabilitation stint. Sold-out crowds greeted his stay at his old stomping grounds. For more information on the Lakewood BlueClaws, call 732-701-9000.
